Time Line

1889. September 10. Forest fires are reported from along the line of the Almont Branch of the F&PM railroad, also at North Street and west of the city [of Port Huron]. People are fighting the fires constantly and much timber and fences have been destroyed.l Everything is as dry as tinder. [DFP-1889-0911]

1892. June 3. The Almont division of the F&PM has been closed to traffic today on account of a washout near Memphis. Trains have run from both ends of the line to the break, and transfers of mail and passengers have been made by team. It is expected that the line will be open tomorrow. [DFP-1892-0604]

1902. The Almont branch has ben widened to standard gauge. A new enginehouse was installed on the branch at Port Huron. [MCR-1903]

1903. A new engine house on the Almont Branch is built in Port Huron. [MCR-1903]

1932. Michigan railroads since 1932 have quit using the following tracks. Some continue to exist but are not in use: PM from Kimball to Almont. [DFP-1949-1009]
