Timetable: Joint Line - Negaunee to Ishpeming - DSS&A/C&NW Joint Line

This line was created in the early 1960's between the Soo Line and the C&NW. The purpose of the route was to run trains north of Negaunee and Ishpeming (near US-141), rather than through downtown Negaunee and Ishpeming. One of the reasons for the new routing was the unstable ground over the Jackson and other underground mines west of downtown Negaunee. The trackage was operated under Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) located in the Soo Line's dispatcher office in Marquette. In the early 1980's, the LS&I joined this trackage between Diamond Jct. (near Eagle Mills) and Harris Yard in Ishpeming. This allowed them to abandon their own main line between LS&I crossing and south Ishpeming. The CTC control panel was later moved to the LS&I operator at Eagle Mills.
