Quarry: U. S. Gypsum, National City, MI
United States Gypsum had a large gypsum quarry north of the Detroit & Mackinac railroad main line about 14 miles west of Tawas City. The quarry was reached by a wye.
Notes
In 1965, the plant was owned by Michigan Gypsum and operated in Section 25 of T21N-Rt3. It was an open pit and plant.
The plant was east of the pit in SW 1/4 of Section 30 of T21N-R6E.
Editors Note: There were several gypsum companies in Iosco County in the 1900's. This may have been a different plant.
