Bessemer Junction was on the DSS&A main line at milepost 293.9, six miles west of Thomaston. A DSS&A branch line left the main line here, going due south to Bessemer and the iron range between Bessemer and Ironwood.
The DSS&A wanted to serve this iron range, but was never able to unseat the C&NW and Soo Line.
1943. February. Lave Billings, foreman at the Bergland's camps informs us that he has 1.5 million logs landed at Bessemer Junction and has 1 million more on skids. [BHN-1943-0212]
