Location: Escanaba, MI - C&NW Tie Preservation Plant

Escanaba Tie Treatment Plant The Chicago & North Western railroad had a large tie preservation plant at Escanaba along Little Bay de Noc just south of ore dock #5, and the current location of the flat ore loading facility.

Time Line

1930. July. The tie preserving plant of the C&NW road was closed yesterday and will remain out of commission for two months. Each summer the plant is closed for a short period but the present term of idleness promises to be considerably longer than usual. [EDP-1930-0709]
