Location: Escanaba, MI - 1943 C&NW Ore Dock #1 (New)

The federal government in 1943, built a new ore dock No. 1 at the former location of the Milwaukee Road ore docks in North Escanaba. This was just north of C&NW dock No. 6.The purpose of the dock was as a back up in case the locks at Sault Ste. Marie were sabotaged during World War II. This dock was never used and it was dismantled in 1946. [CNWPD2].
