Dock: Gladstone, MI - Lehigh Coal and Iron Co. Docks - 1887

This was the first coal dock built in Gladstone on the lake front in 1887. It had a capacity of 500,000 tons. [EDP-1949-0104]

Time Line

1888. A second coal dock 93 feet by 500 feet was built. [EDP-1949-0104]

1891. November. The large merchandise dock and flour shed and the original coal dock were destroyed by fire. They were replaced. Click here for additional information.

1889. Another extension is added to the coal storage docks, adding a shed 168 feet by 500 feet. [EDP-1949-0104]
