Location: Huron Bay, MI

Huron Bay Ore DockBay was a location on the east shore of Lake Superior's Huron Bay. The Iron Range & Huron Bay Railroad built an ore dock here, but the dock was never used and was dismantled shortly thereafter.

The approach trestle was a part of a wye with the other leg of the wye out of view.

This trestle was never used and was dismantled about 1890 and timber ore chutes used for other purposes at other locations.

Time Line

1891. Piles are now being driven for an immense coal dock. [LAS-01891-0321]

1901. John Campbell, general superintendent of the Detroit Construction company, the concern which is tearing down the large ore docks of the Huron Bay & Iron Range road at Huron Bay arrived in L'Anse from Detroit. He drove out to the scene of operations to view the progress of the work. [LAS-1901-0427]
