Kirk Yard is on the northast end of the former EJ&E ring railroad, near Gary, IN. The former EJ&E is the CN Matteson and CN Lakefront subdivisions. The yard is also accessible by the NS mainline west of Porter, IN.
This yard is adjacent to NS' smaller Pine Yard.
