New Paris was located in central Elkhart County. It was a station stop on the Wabash's fourth district which ran between Montpelier, Ohio and Chicago.
New Paris was also served by the north-south Big Four (former Cincinnati Northern) line which ran between Cincinnati and Jackson, Michigan. It crossed the Wabash at a grade crossing here.
