Location: Dearborn Junction, MI
Dearborn Junction was a location on the Michigan Central Main Line about one mile east of the Dearborn Station. This is the location where the DD&D Branch diverged in a southernly direction from the main line to the Oakwood Junction area in Melvindale and Pleasant Street Tower in River Rouge where the DD&D rejoined the MC line.
Notes
Dearborn Junction was located near Elm Street and the current Amtrak Station in West Dearborn.
Time Line
1929. October 21. President Hoover and his party, alighted from a train at Dearborn junction (near Greenfield Village) to pay homage to Thomas Edison on the 50th anniversary of his invention of the electric light bulb. Included the party was Secretary of War James W. Good, Henry and Mrs. Ford, Thomas and Mrs. Edison, and dozens of Hoover's operatives, 50 newspaper correspondents and photographers as well as Michigan Governor Fred Green and other officials.
