Location: Detroit, MI - W Fort Street Crossing (MC/LSMS/Wabash/DUR]

This was the crossing of the Michigan Central, Lake Shore and Wabash lines (Toledo Branch) with the DUR on West Fort Street.

Notes

Time Line

1904. The MCR orders installation of a first class interlocking and derailing switch and signal system at this crossing. [MCRE-1904]

Note: This originally was a crossing at grade. Later (1930's) and crossing was eliminated as the result of a grade separation program (Fort Street and DUR under the other railroads) which eliminated the need for the interlocking.

Note: Fort Street crossed the Pere Marquette at grade west of here, near Dearborn Avenue. This is a different crossing. See menu for its page.
