Boat Dock: Pere Marquette Boat Yard, Detroit, MI

The PM boat dock in Detroit is located adjacent to the Board Yard. Across-river freight traffic is handled through this yard. Its capacity is 171 cars and it is equipped with car repair and car icing facilities. In 1951, most C&O road freight trains operating into and out of Detroit originate and terminate at this yard. Di9esel switchers are used in the Boat Yard operations in 1951.

Time Line

1951. Three boats, PM 10, PM 12, and PM 14 operate between Detroit and Windsor, Ontario and transfer across the Detroit River C&O's traffic to and from Canada. All traffic between Detroit and Buffalo and east is ferried here. [COFTD]
