Location: Ypsilanti, MI - MC/Interurban Crossing

During the existence of the Detroit United Railway interurban line through Ypsilanti, the road crossed the Michigan Central main line in Ypsilanti on Michigan Avenue east of downtown. This was prior to the installation of the overpass on Michigan and the crossing was at grade. There was apparently an interlocking tower here, staffed by the Michigan Central.

Notes

This crossing was eliminated when the interurban closed in the 1930's.

Time Line

1927. The MC has two leverman positions at this tower, likely working 20 hours per day on 10-hour shifts. [TRT]
