Caro State Hospital was part of Michigan's system of 16 psychiatric hospitals. The hospital is reportedly still open as of 2015. The hospital was served off of a branch of the MC branch from Vassar to Bad Axe. The complex is about four miles southwest of the town of Caro.
The railroad supplied coal for hospital boilers at one time.
