Crossing: Seney, MI - Interlocking Tower

About 1880, the Detroit, Mackinaw & Marquette railroad came through Seney on its way from St. Ignace to Marquette. This later became the Duluth, South Shore & Atlantic railroad.

In 1893, the Manistique Railway built north from Seney to Grand Marias, and crossed the DSS&A at this location.  The crossing was protected by a Gravitt interlocking system. Gravitt interlockers were noted for their capstan wheel operations, instead of a traditional lever system.
