Posen was first settled about 1870. It became a station on the Alpena & Northern (later Detroit & Mackinac) railroad. It became a village in 1907. [MPN]
Posen is located in southeast Presque Isle County, about 12 miles southeast of Rogers City.

1894. June. Gebhardt, Morrow & Company build a depot at Posen for the A&N railroad. [AAN-1894-0627]
1908. Forest fires are reported in several places along the northern division of the D&M. The Richardson Lumber Co. lost 1.2 million feet of logs at Posen. [DET-1908-0622]
1927. The D&M had a daytime operator at the Posen depot. [ETT-1927]
