Station: Bloomfield Hills, MI

Bloomfield Hills was settled about 1819 and called Bagley's Corners, then Bloomfield Center. Bloomfield Hills became a village in 1927 and a city in 1932. [MPN]

Bloomfield Hills is located on the former Detroit & Milwaukee railroad (later GTW/CN) line in Oakland County. It is about six miles southeast of downtown Pontiac.

During the 1970's, this was a station stop on the SEMTA commuter train service. [GTWET-1971-0501]


Time Line

1861. August 8. A young man named Donohue was instantly killed by the caving in of a gravel bank at which he was working on the D&M railroad. The heavy rains of Friday night had sapped and loosened the bank, and the unfortunate man had only been about an hour at work when it caved, burying him up to the neck and causing instantons death. [DFP-1861-0809] Note: Four miles southeast of Pontiac.
