Bitley was founded about 1884 as a saw mill community and station stop on the Chicago & West Michigan (later PM) line from White Cloud north to Baldwin. [MPN] The town was located about 15 miles north of White Cloud. The town was also known as Biteley.

1906. The PM erects a new depot here. [PMAR-1906]
1938. The Pere Marquette requests permission from the MPUC to close its depots at Millbrook, Biteley, Melvin and Grawn, explaining that they are no longer necessary to meet public convenience. [EDP-1938-0305]
