Vestaburg was settled about 1860 in northeast Montcalm County. [MPN] The town was located on the Pere Marquette railroad about eight miles east of Edmore.

1879. May 27. W.C. Stone's saw mill burns down. It is along the Detroit, Saginaw & Canada railroad line. [PHTH-1879-0527]
1880. May 18. The saw mill and shingle mill of M. G. Pratt burned at Vestaburg. Value $4,000. [DFP-1880-0519]
1881. July 29. Another fire at Vestaburg burns 7,000,000 shingles and 250,000 feet of lumber, as well as all of the station buildings of the DS&C. [TTN-1881-0729]
1894. December. As Agent Gilluli emerged from the depot with some express money just before a passenger train arrived, he was struck on the head with a club by some unknown person. The assailant secured his watch and $100 and left Gilluli under the platform, supposedly dead. He is still alive. [BSE-1895-0102]
