Coral was settled about 1862 with a saw mill in northwest Montcalm County. [MPN] The town was located on a Pere Marquette branch line which ran from Grand Ledge via Ionia to Howard City. The town was about four miles southeast of Howard City.
The town was platted by Charles Parker who lived here from 1861 until he left for Oregon around 1880. [I&L]
