Time Line

1917. The C&NW had a "box car" style depot here. They also had two stub end sidings here along with a spur track to the west. [CNWV]
Industry
The Talbot Gravel Pit was located southwest of Talbot, with a four mile long spur leaving the C&NW line about 1.5 miles south of the depot. The pit was operated from 1906 to 1912, being described as gravel of good quality, excavated by steam shovel. Maerials were used for rebalasting from Powers to Narenta with 200,000 cubic yards of material used. The branch was taken up in 1912. This pit was apparently owned by the Chicago & North Western and its purpose was to supply the railroad's ballast needs. [CNWV]
