Ferry Service - Butters & Peters Ferry Service Ludington, MI - Butters & Peters Ferry Service

The Butters (logging) company provided ferry service between Buttersville and Ludington. The fare was 5¢. Normal service was about every 45 minutes but not on Sundays when the ball games were in progress, the ferry was constantly plying back and forth, with perhaps a small scow in tow to handle the overflow.

The Butters logging company also had a dock for loading boats with lumber and salt, as well as a coal dock. [M&O]
