Location: Negaunee Construction Works, Gwinn, MI
The Negaunee Construction Works was reported to be a plant built to treat the lean banded ore of the Jackson Mine by a process of crushing ands washing. Shipped 1882-1884 and 1886.
The product was reported to have worked well in the blast furnaces when mixed with other ores in the proportion of 60 to 75 percent. The Crowell and Murry book "The Iron Ores of Lake Superior", c. 1930, shows this same tonnage as having been shipped from a "Negaunee Construction Works Mine in Sec. 27 of T45N-R25W.
The location of the works was Gwinn in Marquette County but the exact location has not been determined. [LSIO-1950]
