Location: Goose Lake, MI

Goose Lake was a station stop on the Chicago & North Western railroad about six miles southeast of downtown Negaunee in Marquette County. The station was established about 1878. [MPN] Goose Lake was earlier known as Lake Fairbanks. [CNWV]

According to C&NW evaluation maps in 1917, a pump house and water tank was available to C&NW trains at the southeast end of the lake, near a bridge. The location also had a well and tool  building. [CNWV]

Over the years, Goose Lake was a photo spot for many photographers because of the beautiful lake, nearby hills, and the railroad which split the lake in two with its elevated right of way.
