Michigamme interlocking was the crossing of the Chicago & North Western Michigamme branch and the Duluth, South Shore & Atlantic main line. The crossing, at a narrow angle, was located one mile east of the village of Michigamme. This was a simple US&S interlocking with a diamond, signals and distant signals, controlled from a tower. This was removed in 1929 when the C&NW branch was pulled up. [CNWV] Looking east in the foreground of the photo, the C&NW Michigamme branch is on the right and the DSS&A main line on the left.
Photo Info: This is an expanded view from a larger photograph. The crossing and interlocking is east of town, along Lake Michigamme. From a postcard view. Detroit Publishing Co. [LOC collection]
This interlocking also had distant signals on both lines in both directions. [CNWV]
The interlocker was a "Randolph" pattern design in 1890. [MCR]
