Caffey was a station stop on the MStP&SSM (Soo Line) about three miles east of Rexton in Mackinac County.

1888. Hall & Buell have a large gang of men at work on a new logging railroad, about eight miles west of Trout Lake. It runs from the Minneapolis Road into a tract of pine in Schoolcraft County, owned by the firm. From one camp 3 million feet will be railroaded to South Manistique in the coming winter. 1942. August. Eight cars of Soo Line time freight No. 16 were derailed six miles west of Trout Lake  yesterday afternoon. The train left the track and the Soo Line wrecker from Gladstone was called along with section crews. Train No. 7, the Soo Line evening train from Sault Ste. Marie to Minneapolis was rerouted over the DSS&A tracks from Trout Lake to Doty, between Wetmore and Shingleton. There the train then transferred to the tracks of the LS&I, leaving them at Eben to use the Soo Line's tracks to Rapid River, then into Gladstone. The train was expected to be 1 1/2 hours late reaching Gladstone. [EDP-1942-0818]
