Location: St. Ignace, MI - DSS&A dock

DSS&A St. Ignace Dock

The Duluth, South Shore and Atlantic railroad owned interest in the Mackinaw Transportation Company, which operated the railroad car ferry between Mackinaw City and St. Ignace. They switched the St. Ignace dock at this location.

Time Line

1893. April 26. At 9 o'clock this morning a yard engine while shunting went through the transfer dock an now stands on its head in the water. Engineer Walter Ferries went down with her but escaped with some severe bruisers. [GRD-1918-0427]

1918: The DSS&A had an operator during the day at this location. [TRT]
