AA Chilson Depot Chilson MI DepotChilson was founded in Livingston County in 1878 when a sawmill was located here on the Toledo, Ann Arbor & Northern. A flour mill was also built here by Chilson & Joslin.

The Ann Arbor railroad had a water tower at Chilson. [GTWHS-Cal/89]

The railroad had a large water tower here as well as a coaling facility in 1945. [ETT-1945]


Time Line

1912. January 10. The Ann Arbor passenger train jumped the track near Chilson and all the coaches left the rails. Engineer Patrick Pursell was seriously injured and removed to the university hospital in Ann Arbor. He was badly scalded and his chances of recovery are small. He lives in Toledo. the fireman was thrown through the window of the cab. He was taken to Toledo, as his injuries are not serious. Passengers received a bad shaking up. The cause is unknown. 1918. The AARR had a day station agent here. [TRT] The agent was gone by 1945. [ETT-1945]
