Notes
In 1903, the Detroit Southern serves the Adrian Brick and Tile Company with a siding north of Michigan Avenue along the Raisin River downtown. [SBM-1903]
Time Line
1897. The Detroit & Lima Northern builds through Adrian north from Page, crossing the LS&MS in Adrian. The line is sold to the Detroit Southern in 1901 and the DT&I in 1905. [MRL] In 1929, the line is reduced to branch line status after the Malinta cut-off is built.
1902. A communication was received by the Michigan Railroad Commission from Mr. Fred C. Bowerfind of Adrian, making complaint against the Detroit Southern Railroad Company on account of its failure to provide suitable and satisfactory facilities for the delivery of coal to the Industrial Home for Girls at Adrian. The matter was taken up with the railroad company and it was agreed that satisfactory service would be furnished., [MCR-1902]
1903. The Detroit Southern freight house and siding was at the end of Race Street, north of West Maumee Street. The D&LN depot was at West Maumee Street on the east side of the railroad crossing. [SBM-1903]
