Location: Kalamazoo, MI - South Yard (LSMS)

South Yard was a LSMS/NYC yard located at MP 60.4, two and a half miles south of the Michigan Central crossing between Gibson and Portage. 


Notes

Call sign was "DK". It also had a water station for locomotives. The yard had a 150 car capacity.


Time Line

1915. It was staffed 12 hours per day, had a yard and a 57 car passing track.

1984. Under Conrail ownership, the yard had three tracks between Cork and Inkster streets. [ZTS]

2023. The yard no longer exists, however their is a major gravel-aggregate operation to the east of the former yard site. [GMAP]
