Kelso Junction was located on the Milwaukee Road's branch line between Channing and Ontonagon. It was nine miles west of Channing. and the branch to Crystal Falls and Iron River left the line here.

Modern aerial photos suggest a full wye was located here, but valuation maps do not confirm that the west leg of a wye existed.
A passing siding was located on the Ontonagon branch starting just west of the junction switch, which was 1,220 feet in length. [MILV]
1914. August 1. The St. Paul train ran off the track near Kelso last Wednesday. No one was hurt but the delay was considerable as the passengers and baggage had to be transferred around the wreck.
