Railroad: Porterfield & Ellis railroad

The Porterfield & Ellis railroad at Pori, Michigan was an industrial railroad in Ontonagon County. It was not a common-carrier railroad. The short-lived line had a nearly 20% grade in the gorge carved by the East Branch of the Ontonagon River.

Time Line

1927. The line shut down and the operation was moved to Lake Mine. It operated for about two years. In 1938 the mill and railroad were completely scraped.
