This was a railroad which built the twin-tube Detroit river railroad tunnel. It was controlled at inception by the Michigan Central, but the name and corporation lingered for many years until it was sold in 1985 to CP and CN. [MRRC]
1871. October 5. The contractors of the Detroit River Tunnel have commenced operations this week. First is the construction of a crib for the shaft of the drainage tunnel, in the yard of the Detroit & Milwaukee railroad company. The work is to be under the immediate supervision of a brother of the engineer, Mr. Cheesbrough, assisted by Mr. G.C. Clark, recently of Boston. [LSJ-1871-1005].
