An industrial branch railroad on the east side of Detroit. Left the D&BC main line at Belt Line Junction (just northeast of Milwaukee Junction), ending at the Detroit River and connecting with the Detroit Manufacturers Railroad.

The railroad had a passenger station at Beaufait Avenue near Belle Isle.

Time Line

1888. Business leaders meet with the MC about the proposed crossing of the Belt Line at Jefferson Avenue. It was rumored that the crossing would be made at grade, and the group wanted the MC to go below grade. Railroad officials noted that they favored an under-grade crossing but the matter was up to the Railroad Commissioner. [DFP-1888-0404]
