Produced: Iron Ore, soft, red, non-Bessemer.

Method: Large pit, 350' x 80' deep., then underground. depth 830 feet., top slicing method.

Railroad connection: DSS&A to Marquette dock; then LS&I to Presque Isle dock.

Until: 1924

Time Line

1895. May. The compressed air receivers at the Salisbury mine at Ishpeming, exploded Thursday, knocking out the end and portion of the roof of a brick building near by. All windows in the buildings in the immediate vicinity were broken by the shock. No one was injured. [DD-1895-0518]
