Notes

The Vicar Mine was located three miles east of Sunday Lake, northeast of Wakefield in Gogebic County. The mine covered Section 12, T47N-R45W. It was operated by the Jones and Laughlin Ore Company.

Time Line

1951. After a heavy investment in surface quipment and buildings, the sinking of a shaft and the construction of a railroad to the site, the mine was finally abandoned after shipping approximately 100,000 tons of ore. [WAK-1954-0402]
