Oil Refinery: Napf-Sol Refining Company, Muskegon, MI

The Zephyr/Napf-Sol refinery was located at 1222 Holten in Muskegon Township, northeast of downtown Muskegon. This site received rail service from the Pere Marquette (later C&O). It operated from 1931 to 1968 and produced gasoline, light heating oils and industrial fuels. Throughput for the facility was 10,000 barrels of oil per day. After closure, the site was used as an oil terminal and bulk chemical storage. The site was designated as a superfund site, which was complicated by its location along the north channel of the Muskegon River.
