Notes

The West Minesota Mining Company was organized in 1854 to explore the property along the west side of the Ontonagon River near Victoria in Ontonagon County. The mine opened up four veins that crossed the property, presumed to be the National and Minesota Veins. Exploration reports in 1855 stated that the potential for further development was high. In 1857, all worked ceased at the mine because of a slump in copper prices. The mine never resumed operations. [MINDAT]
