Wyandot Mine was located a mile northwest of Lake Roland in Houghton County. It was first worked in 1899.


Time Line

1899. The Winona lode has been discovered at the Wyandot mine. [LAS-1899-0722]

1900. A man named Hawley accidently overturned a boiler of hot water Monday at the Wyandot mine. The contents went over him and he was scaled so badly that the physician there has doubts of his recovery. [LAS-1900-0714]

1907. Superintendent Van Orden of the Wyandot copper mine says that the vein on the property is looking better and that the crosscut is now in seven feet on the vein. [DDFP-1907-0123]
