Story - Physical Condition - Manistique Railroad - 1909

This line was inspected August 16 [1909], and extends from Seney to Grand Marias.  The rail is 56 pound and generally in fair condition.  Tie renewals have been liberal and the ties are generally satisfactory.  The surface and alignment of track is fair.  The track is ballasted with a light quality of ballast.  No fences on this line of any importance.  No stations between Seney and Grand Marias.  Very little attention paid to the blocking of frogs and switches.  The trains on this line are operated under verbal orders and by telephone.  No written order system.  The weeds on right-of-way have not been cut.  Highway crossings and signs in good repair.  Equipment, both freight and passenger, is as required by law.
