Interlocking: Fort Wayne Junction, MI

Fort Wayne Junction was located one mile south of Jonesville in Hillsdale County. It was a crossing of the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern "Old Road" east-west main line, with the north-south LSMS Fort Wayne line from Jackson south to Fort Wayne, Indiana. In later years, this was an interlocked crossing.

After the Lake Shore took over the Fort Wayne line, north bound traffic was routed via Hillsdale, using the old Detroit, Hillsdale & Indiana main line to Hillsdale then the using Old Road northwest to Fort Wayne Junction and Jonesville. The old Fort Wayne line, between Fort Wayne Junction and Bankers remained in existence for many years, likely due to the the original lease of the railroad. It was used for car storage and later for motor car runs by railfans.
