Station: Joliet, IL

Joliet, IL is a city of about 147,000 people in Will County, Illinois. It is 30 miles southwest of Chicago. It is the third largest city in Illinois (in 2010). The city was settled in 1673 and is the county seat for Will County.

Joliet was the western terminus of the Michigan Central's Joilet Branch, which diverged from their main line in East Gary, Indiana.  MC had an engine house here, passenger and freight stations and other terminal facilities. In 1947 the station was open day and night.
