Notes

Time Line

1871. January. A portion of the road bed of the Michigan Air Line about two miles west of Pinckney disappeared the other night, and in its place remains a small lake upwards five or six rods in width and 60 feet deep. After two days spent in filling in from a neighboring hill, the attempt was abandoned and it will probably be necessary to bridge the spot. [DFP-1871-0120]

1883. October 25. The Grand Trunk cars arrived. All the stores had closed from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for the occasion. The train pulled in from South Lyon about 5 p.m. and almost 150 men, mostly railroad men were greeted by a reception committee of the village council and their wives. It was a rainy day but everyone gathered under the tent where the railroad men were fed and feted, while many clamored in and around the railroad cars. Pinckney had its railroad. [LDP-1976-0204]

1917. The GTW had an agent here during the day shift. [TRT]
