Station: Springport, MI

Springport was settled about 1836 in northwest Jackson County. A store and mill was located here in 1865 and also called Sunflower Hill and South Harrisville.

The town was located on the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern's Lansing branch, about ten miles north of Albion.

Time Line

1896. In Springport, the LS&MS Lansing Branch served a grain warehouse on the west side of the track opposite the passenger depot (1892). That elevator was owned by Frank E. Nowlin & Co. by 1918.  Also served by rail was a 7,000 bushel capacity bean warehouse owned by the E. C. Comstock & Company.
