Railroad: Jackson and Northern Railroad Company

The Jackson & Northern railroad was a narrow gauge shortline which ran 2.9 miles north from industries along the Grand River, near Ganson Street terminating at a quarry.

Notes

This was a 3' gauge industrial railroad which ran between Jackson to the village of Portage (in Section 11 of Blackman Township). This small railroad crossed the MCRR at MAL Interlocking north of what is now I-94,  This was one of the few narrow gauge crossings at a mechanical interlocker in Michigan.
