Port of Mackinaw City

The Port of Mackinaw City is located at the tip of the lower peninsula of Michigan, in both Cheboygan and Emmet counties. This port is well known for passenger ferries going to and from Mackinac Island. Until the 1980's, the port also hosted railroad car ferries which transported railroad passengers and freight cars from Mackinaw City to St. Ignace in the upper peninsula.

In the early days of settlement, the port shipped out animal furs and other products.
