September 3-6, 2010. The Michigan Northern Arrow. Come join the Bluewater Chapter on their 1950's style passenger train cars to Petoskey's beautiful Little Traverse region where the fresh air and grand vistas come alive. The Labor Day Weekend trip includes diesel-powered excursion train from Owosso, three classes of excellent railroad hospitality (Ultra Class, First Class & Coach Service), leisure time for shopping, strolling or just sitting, and/or optional side trips of the Sault locks, Odawa Casino, Mackinac Island, a boat tour of the Bay and/or the Monday Mackinac Bridge Walk. The Lansing Model Railroad Club is hosting an open house in conjunction with Woldumar Nature Center's annual American Heritage Festival. See trains run over our beautiful HO scale layout complete with cities, mountains, trestles, and much more! Scenery is about 95% complete and trains are operated using NCE digital command control (DCC). Afterwards, visit the American Heritage Festival to view historic displays, blacksmithing, wagon rides, arts and crafts, music, boat rides and much more. The club is located in the former Grand Trunk Western Millet depot and was recently expanded with restrooms and more layout space. Admission is free for the open house only. The Michigan Historic Preservation Network hold their Fall Benefit at the Durand Union Station. tour the 1905 train depot designed by Spier and Rohns for the Grand Trunk Western Railroad. Enjoy music, hors d'oeuvres, desserts and a hosted bar. Bid on a unique assortment of great items in the silent and live auctions. The annual benefit helps raise revenue to support MHPN's mission to advocate for historic places in Michigan and to provide information and support throughout the state. November 6, 2010. Durand Slide Show, at the basement meeting room at Durand City Hall, 215 W. Clinton Street from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.. Program to be determined. Everyone else attending is invited to bring material to share, but keep your presentation to 7 minutes or less. Sign up upon arrival. Projectors and a 100" diagonal screen will be available. The group will break for dinner at 6:00 p.m. (Restaurants are within walking distance, or bring your own lunch and drink). $2 contribution requested for expenses. November 21, 2010. Lansing Model Railroad Club Model Train Show and Sale. Michigan State University Pavilion in East Lansing. 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. All Aboard one of Michigan's largest shows with over 500 tables of model trains, railroad collectibles, "Thomas the Tank Engine" toys, operating layouts, how-to clinics, and much more. It's a train load of fun for everyone! Admission $6 adults or free for children under 12 years and scouts in uniform. Table rentals are $22 each (before 11/1/2010) or $27 each (after 11/1/2010).
